Step 2: Understand Container Conditions

Container condition grades are an industry-standard way of describing a container’s cosmetic and structural state. Here’s what each grade means so you know exactly what to expect:

New / One Trip Containers

  • Made only a single factory-to-port journey

  • Near-new condition with minimal cosmetic wear

  • Excellent appearance, virtually no rust or dents

  • Longest expected service life

Best for customers who want the highest cosmetic condition, such as container homes, offices, or pools.

Cargo-Worthy (CW) Containers

  • Certified structurally sound and watertight enough to carry cargo internationally

  • May show moderate cosmetic wear, surface rust, or dents

  • Floors, doors, and seals are fully functional

  • A solid, budget-friendly choice for general storage

Wind & Watertight (WWT) Containers

  • Inspected and guaranteed free of holes or gaps that would let in wind or water

  • Typically shows more cosmetic wear than Cargo-Worthy units (rust staining, dents, faded paint)

  • Structurally usable for storage but not certified for international cargo transport

  • Our most affordable option for dry, secure storage

Used / As-Is Containers

  • Previously used for cargo transport

  • Sold as-is; condition varies by unit

  • May show cosmetic wear consistent with prior use

Step 3: Prepare Your Delivery Site

Most containers are delivered by a tilt-bed or flatbed truck that slides the container off the back onto the ground. A little preparation goes a long way toward a fast, damage-free delivery.

Space & Access Requirements

  • Straight-line access: Roughly 75–100 ft of clear, straight approach is ideal so the truck can slide the container off in one motion.

  • Width: Allow at least 12–14 ft of clearance along the delivery path, plus room for the truck to maneuver into position.

  • Overhead clearance: At least 14–17 ft of vertical clearance, free of low tree branches, power lines, or awnings.

  • Ground surface: Level, firm, and stable ground (compacted gravel, concrete, or asphalt is ideal). Avoid soft or muddy ground that could shift under the container’s weight.

  • Turning radius: Delivery trucks are large; a driveway or lot with room to back in and straighten out makes placement much easier.

Before the Truck Arrives

  • Mark the exact placement spot and clear the area of vehicles, debris, and low-hanging obstacles.

  • Confirm any required local permits or HOA approvals have been obtained.

  • Let us know about any tight turns, slopes, or access restrictions when you schedule delivery.

  • Be available (or have someone on-site) to confirm placement when the driver arrives.
